There are some titles I noticed are no longer listed but I don't think they've been mentioned here are Beneath the Surface boxset, Planet of Evil, and Hand of Fear. Are these titles also out of print? In addition, based off Amazon prices, Terror of the Zygons and Mind of Evil appear to be out of print.

Yes, probably. We've lost track. Just about every time we log in to order from our supplier, more titles have disappeared. And while we technically have some on backorder, frequently these get dropped as the supplier discovers there are no restocks from the manufacturer.

A local PBS station from Chicago WYCC channel 20 is showing 'Tom Baker Movies' as they list them for Doctor Who on Saturday nights. This past week they showed Seeds of Doom as one complete film, and afterwards there was an ad for purchasing it from 'a retailer'. I just noticed these shows and have so far only seen Seeds and Brain of Morbius. I am wondering if the retailer is going to be the de facto source from now on ( if Brain and Seeds are both listed as out of print now then it would lend weight to my suspicion).

Although I started watching Who as episodes, I do enjoy just being able to watch an adventure all the way through an would like for them to release these movies as season sets.

There's still copies of the Beneath the Surface box set here...they're in the Pertwee DVD section.

Thanks. I had seen they weren't in the Peter Davison section so I thought that it may have been taken out of print.

Interesting. Also, I didn't start getting Classic Who DVDs until 2014, but several say they were printed in Mexico, might this gave to do with why they are going out of print?

The Doctor Who DVD line has extended beyond the great DVD market crash (2009/2010), existing long before, during, and afterwards.

As a result, many of the older titles that were produced years ago were produced in much greater numbers than the later titles, and they were likely produced in the USA. I believe this may be related to when Warner ceased working with Cinram in 2010, but it may have been before as Cinram had replication factories in Mexico as well as other parts of North America.

The oldest titles were probably not produced in Mexico, but as they were likely produced in great numbers, many of the less popular titles probably sat around for more than a decade before needing a re-press.

As to the titles now out of print, they are multitudinous.

For example, Tom Baker's reign now has the following out of print titles: Robot, Genesis of the Daleks, Revenge of the Cybermen, Terror of the Zygons, Planet of Evil, Pyramids of Mars, The Hand of Fear, The Face of Evil, etc, and that is just from his first 3 (of 7) seasons.

Sorry, I made an error in saying Beneath the Surface was out of print, it appears to be quite in print still. Same with The Visitation. Terminus can only be gotten in the Black Guardian Trilogy set. However, Revelation of the Daleks does seem to be now out of print. Other than that, great list!

To be fair the R2 and R4 titles of these story remain in print.  Its only the USA that appears to be deleting there stock.   IF you cant find what you need here in the USA consider a multi region DVD player and you can then import the ones from the United Kingdom and Australia.

The Doctor Who DVDs with all the extras were some of the best DVDs produced for any science fiction series.  If you don't have them and want them get them before there gone cause you never know when BBC Worldwide is going to pull the plug on Region 2 (United Kingdom)  and Region 2 + 4 (Australia / New Zealand).

This is also a lesson learned to buy them as they are released as best you can

I can't remember offhand though, who publishes these DVDs in the US, I sorta wanna send an email to ask why they're doing it only in Region 1.

I believe to the best of my memory that BBC Worldwide America's had a deal with Warner Brothers to produce them for the North American Market.  I think it is there decision to stop repressing them rather than BBC World Wide America's

Other's here may know more about it.  I know every one was thrilled when Warner took over the North American Distribution from FOX back in the day

Okay, thanks, nice to know. Also, I've been looking elsewhere and they used to have Planet of Fire for like $50 but now it's just $25. Is it possible they may be reprinting some titles?

No idea but some stores, on line sites and such may have copies left.  You might be able to get it from Canada at a lesser price than from a US retailer if you search Amazon.ca

I  imported all the DVDs as R2 with a few I got from R2+4  Australia as they were released so with the exception of The Underwater Menace I have a complete set.

in the UK many other BBC-TV series have long gone out of print such as Star Cops, Survivors, The Omega Factor and others, Doctor Who has stayed in print there but who knows when even the U K versions will start to get deleted.
