My wife-to-be and I got a late start on horror movies this month, so we've done double features the past couple of days.

10/6
Land of the Dead (2005)
Diary of the Dead (2007)

10/7
Revenge of the Creature (1955)
Return of the Vampire (1944)

I watched Brides of Dracula, the Hammer version with Baron Meinster as the blood sucker. Too bad they didn't bring his character back the actor did a very nice job, and unlike Christopher Lee, his vampire actually had more than four lines of dialog!

Land of the Dead (2005)

Back when this movie first came out on DVD, I was over at my buddy's house watching it with him. It was about 10pm, and his 3.5 year old son, who was SUPPOSED to be sleeping, snuck out into the living room just as an unlucky person got bitten in the neck. He said:

'What that is?'

Me: 'It's a zombie.'

'Wow!! Nombies BITE!!!'

"You bear the markings of the beast. Look, I'm not trying to freak you out, but you've been infected. You're cursed. You've got to sever the line of the beast- it's the only way to break the curse. The beast is human, too- don't forget that. It's closer to you than you think..."

I would like to see that movie sometime, I hear it does meet the expectations of people.

It's definitely a movie that has stirred up much debate. I enjoyed it (watched it 3 times at the theater); found it to be a rather good thought provoking film. Not perfect by any means, but still a good film IMHO.

Very interesting to read what the original writer's intentions were (warning - Spoilers):

I'll watch it later as well. Been looking forward to seeing it again, even though I think a lot of it is flawed, as you know. I'm especially looking forward to the extensive documentary on its making, as I really loved the look of it.

I'd say if someone isn't sure about seeing it, you'll most likely find good points to go in addition to anything you find bad in it.

That should be on the US edition too, I think it's an easter egg. I haven't gone through all of the set yet, myself.

I got my Prometheus Blu last night and it won't load. It sits for about 30 minutes then the player shuts off. DVD plays fine.

Do you have to update your player, possibly?

We're sooooo off-topic here.... (not complaining)

I found that the newer blu rays require extra memory. So I plugged in an 800gb external drive through the USB port on the front, and now they play fine. So it could be a memory problem too.

Yup. Same thing happened to be with the Alien Anthology blus. I have to plug in a USB stick to get the memory for those to play.
