PostSubject: Star Trek Sequel SPOILERS   Mon Apr 30, 2012 3:26 pm

Trekmovie.com has confirmed the following information. As long rumoured, Benedict Cumberbatch will playing Khan Noonien Singh. The Klingons will be appearing as well. But to me anyways, the most amazing thing is LEONARD NIMOY IS COMING BACK AS SPOCK PRIME!!!

I was told by a friend 'Khan' is to be in the sequel over a year ago, but i just thought it was a gimmick to keep fans keen. It's exciting to know it turned out true.

Can't go wrong with Benedict playing the part IMO. Looking forward to seeing how this will play out.

You may want to view the cast list on IMDB:

Noel Clarke is also listed.

He's playing a scientist with a family - Richard Daystorm anyone?

Not crazy about Khan being in it. Love the character (I think, or I'm just a Montalban fan) but it's kind of weird. The original Star Trek 2 has the return of Khan, and now the new Star Trek 2 has the return of Khan. I'm sure the stories are going to be completely different but it's just a little strange. But as long as the story's good, I'm good.

Not too crazy about Nimoy returning either. I didn't like the whole future/alternate universe angle in the first one. But again, if it's well written, I won't complain.

Now the Klingons, there's something I can get excited about! I was never a fan of the Romulans so I'm glad to see these guys getting a turn. I just hope they aren't wearing the masks from the first film's deleted scenes.

I personally was hoping that they wouldn't pull the trigger on Kahn until at least a 3rd film, if not at all.

Movie 1 is the obligatory 'origin' story. Movie 2 should be something original (and hopefully good) to show that the franchise can stand on its own, without having to use plot lines from past series, bring in cameos, etc. Later, you can go back to the well if you would like and put a new spin on an old storyline.

Similarly, I never liked the idea of TNG going with Naked Now as the first episode after Farpoint. Way too soon to channel the old series (plus the characters were brand new and unestablished, seeing the flip side of everyone would have had more impact if they had waited a while).

So we have waited all this time for them to pull a script together, and the best they could come up with was a rehash of Space Seed. Very disappointing.

Figured I'd pass along a TNG tidbit for fellow Trek fans reading here... TNG season 1 on blu ray will be released on July 24.

1.33:1 broadcast aspect ratio with 7.1 DTS-HD master audio tracks

Supplements

Three-part documentary: Inception, Launch, The Continuing Mission
Behind-the-scenes featurettes:
- Energized! Taking The Next Generation to the Next Level
- Stardate Revisited: The Origin of Star Trek: The Next Generation
- The Beginning
- The Making of a Legend
- Memorable Missions
Star Trek: The Next Generation Archives: The Launch
Archival Mission Logs feature
Selected Crew Analysis feature
Over twenty-two episodic promos
1987 introduction to the series
Season One promo
Gag reel

No word on the price yet though. Going to be interesting to see what that turns out to be.

Well, IMDB seems to think that Gary Mitchell is Cumberbatch's role, but that doesn't make sense. That character was already used in the comic. Unless Gary was secretly a Time Lord.

None of this makes any sense, but I didn't think the first Movie made any sense, so I guess it's par for the course.

I still have a sealed DVD of the first movie that I probably cant giveaway. I did see the film and thought it was total crap. I would rather watch all three versions of ST-TMP one after the other than this one once.

Friend!

I am all in agreement, apart from the last bit. JJ's work often leaves a nasty flavor in my mouth, so I am not even going to bother watching it. I saw the first film via an advanced DVD a few days before the film came out, and it makes me feel better I did not waste money seeing the first one. So, I'm gonna sit the second one out, until this alternate universe (but it's a reboot, let's face it, JJ just did a bait and switch) crap is finished and Trek in the original universe is back.
