For many of us Star Wars fans, Empire Strikes Back is the best of the films, and most of the reason goes to Irvin Kershner, who directed the movie. He passed away this weekend at the age of 87.

RIP and May the Force be with you.

That really sucks. No

I have a copy of the making of The Empire Strikes Back they published back in '81. It is very insightful and I truly believe Return of the Jedi would not have been such a disaster if he had directed it.

Makes me want to get the book that came out earlier this year celebrating the 30th anniversary of Empire. Has some of Irvin's last interviews in it regarding Empire.

He really did a great job as a director, and I wish he had done more with Star Wars as a director.

I am sure he was to be at Celebration V last August. Need to check that. But, I just wanted to see Boba Fett/Hal the Archer!!
