Nice shades, Clyde. And it was a nice overall story.

Now, who else is stoked for next week?

Agreed. After finishing part 2, I feel like that was really well done. Enjoyed it very much. It feels weird seeing Smith and Sladen on screen together. Just.....weird. I identify SJA with the RTD era and classic series, but haven't at all felt a connection with the Matt Smith era. Now it's all coming all at once, just feels strange.

plus, I can't get over the fact that Katy Manning is a year younger than Liz Sladen, but looks like she's 15 years older than that. Seriously, she's only 60 years old during this episode. Looks like she's in her mid 70s! Sladen really looks great for her age.

I'm not sure if I'm going to even bother with the Doctor story now. I have had absolutely no interest in the SJA this year. How sad. Crying or Very sad

Gotta say the first two episodes were beyond boring for me and this week's shows were a bit better but didn't keep my attention. Hopefully, the episodes will improve with the Doctor's appearance next week.

After reading this, I'm a little apprehensive about The Death of the Doctor. No, RTD, cramming your story full of characters doesn't work very well.

Forget those apprehensions, the first part was great! Although, it was a bit RTD cliche for Clyde...

Thanks everyone for using spoiler tags. I'm a week behind. I just finished The Vault of Secrets, and after hating the season opener this episode sure did deliver! It was awesome! It was so much fun to watch. And I loved the Sutekh "cameo"!

I'll wait until tomorrow to watch the Jo Grant episode, so I can watch them both at once. cheers

Just watched the second part and i think it addressed everyone's concerns mentioned above. And leave it to RTD to have a field day with Doctor Who's past. I will leave it at that LOL. Still, Good stuff.

All in all, a very fun two episodes. It "felt" like a Classic Episode, only sped up. Honestly, this is the first Who Related Story post-reboot I honestly wish they'd reverted to the old Story Format. This could have been a beautifully realized four parter.

The Shanshe were an awesome alien race I felt. Maybe it's my exposure to Classic Who, but I absolutely adored them. The puppetry was fantastic, and I just like their overall profile. I know in early clips, they seemed extraordinary silly but in motion they really are impressive. A lot of work went into them, and it shows. I'd like to see them turn up again.

The ending was typical RTD fare, which was really disappointing, but overall it doesn't distract from the very loving homage to Classic Who.

EDIT: I also loved RTD reconning The End of Time to include

. Usually, I'm not a fan of such moves, but in this case...bravo!

Matt Smith is a brilliant Doctor. He just slid very casually into his interactions with Sarah Jane and Jo. His bits with Jo I found very touching and well acted for two performers with no history together.

Also, very cute explanation of where Amy and Rory are.

As for the "infamous" removal of the regeneration limit...it really isn't meant to be taken seriously. You get that from that scene.

RTD, wow. If you never do anything #DoctorWho-related again, this would be a great way to end it.
(However, he is with Torchwood, so...)

Great 2-parter!

And the end, the Tardis Google search...very nice Smile.

I like this one so much, because I could see Jon smiling at his girls.

Moffat said in an interview before the launch of Series 5 that the regeneration limit would be addressed in a cheeky way. Has to be what he was referring too.

I just watched Death of the Doctor and my fondness for DW's past was definitely satisfied. I wish they would do more things like this in proper DW though. Will I continue watching the SJA after this? I don't think so. I found the special effects like the UNIT base and the main villians to be sorely lacking. It was way too cutesy for me that "vulture" like creatures would be the undertakers of the universe too. Rolling Eyes

Also,

Finally, I do agree that the Doctor's answer to Clyde about regenerating was not to be taken seriously although I do think that in the end the limit will not apply somehow with the Doctor.

If you have ever seen the end of Green Death, you would understand that the Doctor and Jo had a very tearful farewell. To me, it is still one of the most emotional moments of the classics.

I think that reaction of both, of this very awkward reunion, stems from this moment.

On the subject of Tegan I was happy to read that Janet Fiedling lifted her embargo on DW and returned to do some new BF audios.  It made me rethink the rumour that I read a long time ago that Tegan was coming back to the new tv series.  I don't think this is going to happen, but I would love it if it did.  It would make perfect sense too if Tegan reacted to meeting the Doctor again the way she did in the audios considering the circumstances of her departure in ROTD.

I still want them to bring Jamie back for a two parter in the new series. It's not like it's impossible, and I'd just love to hear one more "Oh...aye...". Laughing

sadly, yes. That's exactly what happened. The hype died. I, however, am still looking forward to the finale. It sounds intriguing.
