PostSubject: Who else was lucky enough..........   Wed Mar 07, 2007 2:35 pm

I was wondering who else was lucky enough to see the Jon Pertwee episodes of Doctor Who when Time-Life first brought
them over.

At the time I was living in Montoursville Pennsylvania and we received a PBS station from State College that ran them Wednesday evenings at 7:30. I discovered the series at some point during "The Ambassadors of Death" and was instantly hooked.

Unfortunetly then there was no place to find information on the show so there were somethings that were confusing or didn't seem to make sense. It didn't stop me from watching though. I found the change in picture quality from studio videotape to filmed
exteriors puzzling until years later when I learned the reason.

I especially like "Terror of the Autons", I loved the creepy doll thing,
"Day of the Daleks", "Inferno" and "Curse of Peladon". "Day" may
be lacking as a Dalek story but I like the way it dealt with time travel.

I borrowed plot elements from "Inferno" to create my own adventure acted out by my MEGO action figures. When somebody
became a Primod they turned into a Planet of the Apes action figure!

I have a lot of good memories associated with that time and I'm
grateful to Channel 44 for introducing me to Doctor Who.

I did! My dad was big on sci-fi, so we watched it, and while I'm sure we watched from the beginning, the one I remember the most is "Inferno." I also remember the cliff hanger in Stangmoor prison when the Doc was supposedly shot. Isn't that "Mind of Evil"?

For me, channel 28, KPBS. God love 'em.

I watched those early Pertwees as well, though I'm not exactly sure which ones. My earliest Doctor Who memory was being frightened by either a Silurian or a Primord; over the years I've narrowed it down and figured out that it must have been one of those two.
