The Good News: They Arrived

The Bad News: They are oversized and we don't have any boxes in-store that can fit them.

I made an inquiry with our box supplier, but until I get an answer, I won't be able to ship or take orders (I don't know what size box yet). The LIKELIHOOD is that these will be forced to ship individually to avoid dimensional charges. One dimension is 18.5 and another is 13 inches, which makes it .5 inches too long to fit in any of our 18" boxes and 1 inch too wide to go in our "poster-capable" boxes.

Will let everyone know before long. Sorry, this threw us for a loop.

Okay, I have listed them and you can select "Discard Box" if you want the outer box discarded so it will fit and ship immediately.

Otherwise, you will have to wait for the shipping boxes to get here. The ABSOLUTE earliest these would ship is Wednesday, but it could be later in the week.

Also, these are 4lbs and they have been set to ship by themselves. The boxes only fit 1 of these. If you order 2, you will pay shipping for a second box. This is the only way to avoid dimensional shipping weights.

My wife just ordered me a set. Since shipping price in box or tray only is the same, she choose the mint in box route Suspect ...I guess I can wait the week or so

Now, for some thoughts...

Though it's certainly admittedly not like me at all to usually exercise patience, I placed an order for the Mint Box, because we're planning on making it a living room centerpiece.

As for opened figures, a family friend sent this to us a week ago after his purchasing at SDCC, but we just had to buy here again to support WHONA!

In honesty, when everyone has had a chance to get their set, we may get yet another from here! It is just so good. I was actually surprised how much I like this set.

To that ends, please allow me to point out some favorites...

I have waited YEARS for this Third Doctor. It's amazing. The Three Doctors are properly now on display. If this were a single figure, I'd buy multiples, for all our friends.

I admittedly had very little interest in this Fourth Doctor. The Season 18 Doctor has always been a favorite, and I honestly didn't think I needed another back up. But, I was wrong! This version is far superior, and it is absolutely glorious. I am well chuffed about the upgrade in detail, especially on the scarf. This is true Bidmead level of perfection in every possible way!

This Second Doctor is arguably a bit of a gimmick, and I know others love the idea of Season 6B more than I possibly do, but I am glad to have him. I still want a Jamie and Second in Yeti Coat!

This First Doctor initially took some adjustment for me, with my somehow never having imagined him wearing brown, possibly from seeing mostly B&W, but he's growing on me quickly, and is well done.

The Eighth Doctor's face is gross looking, frankly. I read all the BBC Books, and it's common to have the Eighth Doctor all bloody. But, to me, it doesn't seem very Doctor-y. I was tipped off, and I'll pass it on here, that simple over the counter rubbing alcohol and a Q-Tip can remove the blood on his face. I'm not much of one to change toys, or customize, but I admit I did this, and feel better. He's now much like the initial release, with some detail paint upgrades, but I am fine with him clean.

The Ninth Doctor is one of my biggest surprises. These colors are realistic and muted. There isn't much, if any, black on any of these figures. So, the Ninth jacket looks like real brown leather. I like his color scheme. Very refreshing.

At any rate, glad to see the 5 inch back in full force. Pick up this set quickly, everyone!

I can't seem to find the option to discard packaging. I just see mint or scuffed box options. Is there a button I'm missing?

Awsometoyblog has a hd close-up slideshow and photo of each figure. At first I thought I would be getting rid of 7~12 until I saw how cool they look! Definitely keeping ALL of them now... Might remove the blood on 8's face as it is a little weird, I'll have to really think it over.

Yes, Sea Devil, we changed the option.

Now that the mint boxes are all gone, we're down to scuffed boxes. Most of these are where the Velcro buttons are located (forcing the packaging to scuff against another box or the case packaging). This really accounts for most of the cosmetic issues on the boxes.

Oh, and just my opinion, these are some of the worst paint jobs on figures. The flesh tones are "washed" and too pale. The figures are a great assortment, but just putting bright red marks all over the 8th Doctor's face does not really make him look wounded unless you "dirty" him up a bit. And the hairlines are a bit wonky as well. Still, there are some nice ideas here, even if the implementation looks a bit sloppy.
