I literally missed the announcement by ten minutes on Monday. I even ordered other items that day, oblivious!

PArt of this is due to the fact that I visit less because the new site won't load on Firefox. Anyone else have this issue/a solution?

Was there a discount ont he scuffed boxes? Just curious. Looking forward to seeing these figures in person.

Oh, and just my opinion, these are some of the worst paint jobs on figures. The flesh tones are "washed" and too pale. The figures are a great assortment, but just putting bright red marks all over the 8th Doctor's face does not really make him look wounded unless you "dirty" him up a bit. And the hairlines are a bit wonky as well. Still, there are some nice ideas here, even if the implementation looks a bit sloppy.

Huh.

Now I feel stupid for liking it.

Maybe I won't buy another one, then...

Visited for Gencon and got a chance to poke around the WhoNA shop.  Picked out my set and I'm happy with it. sunny

The 8th Doctor does look a little silly like he's got chicken pox and the 7th Doctor is the one that strikes me as they just put 1 coat of white paint on him and shipped him out.  But overall its a nice set and some of the other figures have more detailed head paint applications.  All the releases have those quality issues where the hairline sometimes moves up a little too far.

The velcro buttons are neat, but in the end they just cause boxes to rub against one another so there is sometimes a little wearing.  Not that you can actually see it if you display with the doors open on the box.  But the velcro is something I could live without on future releases.

Overall I'm happy and the 13 Doctors is now sitting proudly next ot the old 11 Doctors set.  I'm especially happy that WhoNA is going to have this set and the Pertwee-Master-Jo set at both the shop and at their booth at Gencon.  Record fast time getting all this product and getting out on the shelves and into the mail. Very Happy

I am going to contact CO about getting a replacement for the 2nd Doctor figure. The paint from the face is on his hair too much for my liking. A

And apart from the 7th looking like a zombie, (at least I can pop the head off and replace it from another figure) all the others look ok.

Painting the hair the correct color with acrylics is super easy, also hit up a craft store for a skin tone coloured acrylic to dezombiefy.

Repainting a face is delicate work, though. One slip of the brush and you've lost the eyebrows.

This is also true when doing chemistry experiments. Or setting off fireworks.

And so, as the sets dwindle down to nothing, the feeding frenzy ends. The collectors return to normal, their blood lust sated, for the moment. But who knows? Restocks could happen, at which point, the savage bloodshed could begin anew!!!

Keith was kind enough to put a set aside for me, should be here on Saturday. Funny thing, I recently picked up the Vallejo face painting set from one of the last real hobby shops in my area, for touch-up repairs or in case the customizing bug bites. Looks like I may need to sharpen my skills.. Wink

Again, as I mentioned before, I removed my blood from the Eighth Doctor's face with a cotton swab and simple over the counter rubbing alcohol, and it's made me much happier. I realize how bloody the Eighth Doctor got so often in the BBC Books, but that blotchy bloody mess on the figure's face just seemed sloppy and not too Doctor-y to me. Easy fix!

But, if you couldn't even pass your chemistry exams at school, and yet you manage to create a time storm in your bedroom that sends you off to waiting tables on Iceworld, I'll have seen Fenric's hand in it from the very beginning...

As far as fireworks... NITRO 9!
