The synopsis for this episode is quite intriguing!

“Trapped in a world unlike any other he has seen, the Doctor faces the greatest challenge of his many lives. One final test. And he must face it alone. Pursued by the fearsome creature known only as the Veil, he must attempt the impossible. If he makes it through, Gallifrey is waiting…

Discuss! afro

Going to be interesting to see an episode with just the Doctor on his own!

I do hope there's no fourth wall breaking...

Where's the Black Guardian!?

If Asshildr lives a billion years shouldn't she be all powerful and stuff.

What the heck did I just watch. It felt like 12 Billion years wrapped up in 60 minutes.

I don't know if I liked it yet.It was very macabre and the ending was exciting but darn it was a bit repetitive huh?

So he finds Galifrey only to then destroy it again?BS!

I'd rather the Doctor die and Galifrey live on then have him destroy it again.

At this point, I'm with Brain of Davros, don't know if I liked it or not. It was equal parts boring and intriguing. And to the director; we figured out the loop and chipping bird after the second repeat, you didn't have to hammer on...

Oh, chipping bird......I thought of the Guardians with the birds on their hats.

I actually thought he was on Karn for a while, and Morbius would pop out inside the castle. I also had visions of the house of Lungbarrow, but I am glad that didn't come about.

I really don't know what I think of the episode. It started as a great mystery, rather creepy. But even before we saw the first reset, I thought it was getting repetitive. Creature attack, confess something, then run away. Repeat.

I need to watch it again, without commercial interruptions...

It didn't help that I fell asleep like 10 times and had to rewind over and over again.

The trailer for heck Bent might be the best of the season

It way okay but as others mentioned, boring after a bit (basically he was stuck in a loop for eons - dying and being reconstituted - until he punched his way out; the bird message finally making sense - but if things were always resetting, why did the wall not reset as well, the main glitch to the scenario). It was the Deadly Assassin (Tom Baker companionless as well) without the pizzazz.

It would have been nice to have seen the full version (55 minutes) since it (as well as next week's which I'm very much looking forward to) are expanded, the finale being 65 minutes.

Overall, this series/season was far better than the last one. Capaldi is definitely making a niche as The Doctor (sorry, just didn't care much for Matt Smith's version mostly because the writing was so subpar and he was relegated to second banana to both Amy and Clara). Hopefully, Capaldi will remain for years to come to bring the show some stability as Tom Baker did during his reign.

The replay factor for this season is pretty low for me personally.I'd say almost tied with last season but maybe less.

Last year had about 4/5 episodes I'd watch again.
This year maybe 3 with 2 more to go so.

And I don't mind the Doctor with no companion for awhile. After Amy and Clara hogging to light it's time for a break.

I'm not sure what was more unsettling for me: watching the Doctor spend two billion years in a loop, punching his way out of the prison within the Confession dial, or the smog pizza I ate just before the episode began. (smog pizza=sausage, mushrooms, onions & garlic) I'm still recovering from both.. Wink

AWESOME episode! Capaldi, once again, pulls this off magnificently, and I just think the story was so cleverly woven together! I was gripped throughout!

Looking forward to seeing him take on Gallifrey!!

When did Gallifrey become an enemy of The Doctor? Did I miss something? And what's all this "fuss" about a hybrid? Was this all mentioned previously in the season? I guess I must have been sleeping through a few episodes...this was, after all, the first season in which I actually forgot Dr Who was on TV. I forgot this past Saturday and 2 weeks ago...the show just doesn't invoke any excitement in me anymore...

"Heaven Sent" felt a bit like Zardoz, but in a good way.

This was me -- bored to sleep. Also, I really hated the teleport being explicitly tied to death. Teleportation *technically* entails death anyway -- the original person is disintegrated; a copy of the person is reconstituted elsewhere -- but I generally ignore that point in scifi because maybe they found a workaround or magic or whatever. Explicitly tying the teleport to dying makes it quite clear that "our" Doctor died over a billion years ago, which just doesn't sit well with me. (Arguably regeneration entails a death as well, but there's a certain physical continuity there that doesn't occur with teleportation.)

I think the thing that continues to bother me most about Moffat's stories is that they're "clever" on the surface but don't appear to have been fully thought through, if that makes any sense.

Anyway, Gallifrey and Arya Stark. I feel like we could've just jumped right there and skipped this business entirely. Razz

(Also, Evil Monkey Pope, NO. Zardoz is brilliance through and through.)

I watched again, and at the first viewing, I was worried about this being the 4 billionth copy of the Doctor or something, too. Now I see it more like being in the Matrix, and the resets are just happening to the Doctor's mind in the computer generated castle. When he emerges, then he materializes on Gallifrey.

And I missed the fact that the dial was called the Confession Dial, and thus he survive the robed creature every time he confessed something....

Ya I see it more like this too since he was in the dial.So more of a mind F,than him being remade physically each time.

Despite it turning repetitive, the episode still seemed a little short.  But it got the point across and they did eventually speed up the pace as the Doctor neared a couple billion run throughs.

The Doctor now blames the Time Lords for Clara's death and is determined the conquer Gallifrey and take his revenge.  For an all-powerful race it sure did seem like a silly way to get him home, using the Me-girl and accidentally killing Clara.  If I were the Doctor I'd likely go off and take revenge on them for being so foolish.  then I'd go back and double destroy Me-girl just to make sure she doesn't come back again.  Seeing her in the "next time" is really my only big reservation about next week.
