Custom-Made DAPOL Doctor Who figures

Hello Everyone,

I am sure that all of you are familar with the Doctor Who toys made by DAPOL. Even though many of them were not accurate, it was still Doctor Who, and one of the things which kept on going.

I mean, during the period when Doctor Who was off the air for a while, like the books and magazines, these toys kept the flame of Whovian fandom popularity burning for a long while.

Upon the year of 2001 when the BBC didn't renew the license for DAPOL to make any more Doctor Who toys, whatever was left existed in the form of various prototypes.

Plus, there were some which DAPOL never came around to making, and therefore, no prototypes were ever made. As many of you also know, the fans have to show the way.

For instance, some have made impressive looking customized (or custom made) figures which were not only made from broken DAPOL toys, but also look like and are in scale with them too.

Even though I do not own any official prototypes made by DAPOL, I usually buy or make my own. Within my collection of customized figures, I have the following (which are NOT for sale)...

- Cyber-Controller, based on the concept from the ATTACK story
(I made this one back in 2001);

- IMPERIAL Emperor Dalek a.k.a. Davros from REMEMBERANCE story
(I didn't make this one, but I am modifying one that I bought);

- Emperor Dalek from the EVIL story
(I didn't make this one either, but I bought it from a U.K. Seller);

- Dalek Supreme from the PLANET story
(I made this one myself);

- Daleks with various paint-jobs
(which I've also done on my own); and most recently

- the SPECIAL WEAPONS DALEK!
(I just finsihed making this prototype recently, which I am hoping to duplicate by having cast mouldings of them made)

Before I say anymore, please post your replies here, and let me know which ones you would really like to see. I am just dying to show them off, but I would like some to let me know which ones...

You sooooooooo need to post the pics!

The only customs I've done were the SW Bespin Guard from the POTF2 (that looks like me), and stuck the head on the 7th Dr's body (I painted two of them and matched the outfits to my own; back when I could wear the pullover).

I didn't meen to be so absent-minded. It would have been better for me to post the pics here, as opposed to asking to see all who was interested. Sorry about that.

I've done all these on my own most recently. The 4 on the top are based on the RARER ones which were released by DAPOL, either with Gift Sets, or some various prototypes which made it out there (and owned by some lucky collectors).

The 4 on the bottom were touched up with paint, and real black DAPOL Dalek heads. These are my official BLACK DALEK LEADERS of the Renegade Faction, who are the royal guards of the Emperor Dalek himself.

From left to right, we've got the following...

a) IMPERIAL Emperor Dalek a.k.a. Davros from the REMEMBERANCE story (As I sais before, I didn't make this one, but I am modifying it as we speak);

b) the Dalek Supreme from the PLANET story (I made this one myself); and

c) An ALL GOLD DALEK with a claw (Like the ALL SILVER one from the second photo, I did the entire paint-job on this one too).

This is the Emperor Dalek from the EVIL story which I didn't make, but I bought it from a U.K. Seller as I mentioned before. His name is John and he made this all by himself.

It was intended to more or less be in scale with the DAPOL Daleks. As far as I know, he only made 6 of them, and this partiuclar model was made for me, with a rotating head.

I just put two of the RENEGADE Black Dalek Leader Royal Guards with him (one on each side) just to show you how in scale it is, and to enhance the display in a cool way.

An finally, here is my most recent project which I just finished yesterday on August 4th. (...Drum Roll Please...)

PRESENTING!...

The SPECIAL WEAPONS DALEK! This one does not belong to any particular faction. He was simply made from whatever broken parts I could find. He works really well too, as if he was made by DAPOL.

He's got the following features...
- Pull-Back Action;
- Mid-section turns all the way (360 degrees) around; and
- Up-and-down movement with the really big gun!

I am hoping to duplicate this by having cast mouldings of it made. If, and only if it is do-able (to make the full working cast mouldings of them), I am hoping to make 34 of them.

17 will be gray with black spots (for the Renegade Faction), and the other 17 will be white with gold spots (for the Imperial Faction).

Again, if it is possible to make these, I plan on keeping 4 of these (2 from each faction) and if I do sell the rest (all 30 of them) they will only be exclusively available on eBay.

Whether I am able to have the cast mouldings of them made, either way, I will let all of you know. Thanks for taking the time in viewing some of my stuff (whether it was made by me or not).

FANTASTIC! Instead of Dapol repainting them into weird colours, they could have done correct ones.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for both viewing, and leaving me nice feedback about my work. Anyway, while I am here, I just wanted to give all of you some "heads-up" notice.

I just found out that I will be able to make cast mouldings of my SPECIAL WEAPONS (Gunner) Dalek after all. However, they won't be available until sometime between mid to late September.

The guy who is going to help me with my prototype said that it will come out in the exact shape and form. Plus, it will function as if it were made by DAPOL with the following features...

1) big gun can move up and down;
2) the mid section turns all the way around (360 degrees); and
3) pull-back action will be possible.

At the moment, my project is still in development, and here are the current updated plans...

- I will be adding more details to it (such as the rivots and extra slats, wherever they are supposed to go);

- At the moment (not including the prototype), I am planning on making about 36 of these so far;

- 18 of them will be for the IMPERIAL Faction (white with gold trim) and the other 18 for the RENEGADE Faction (grey with black trim);

- Besides making sure that each and every one is fully working, the finsihed permenant paint job will be done as best as possible;

- At the moment, since I am the maker I will only be keeping 6 of these for myself (3 from each faction, leaving 30 for sale);

- When they are ready to be sold, they will only be exclusively available on eBay for everyone to see and bid on / buy; and

- Finally, when I post up the auctions, they will either be sold as singles, or within sets of other Daleks.

So, please be sure to keep your eyes peeled! However, I will let you all know when they are available on eBay. But, if there is a change of plan or some difficulties, I will keep you all posted.

BRILLIANT!!!!! but i'm to young to know (i have seen it before) who it is is it the emperor dalek in a different fourm?
