But never fear, the Top Trumps Tardis is here to take you spinning through space and time and celebrate 45 years of Doctor Who!

The first Top Trumps: Collectors Edition, this pack takes you from Coal Hill School in 1963 through to San Francisco in the 20th Century as we look at the daring escapades of all the Doctor's classic regenererations! No adventure would be complete without companions, and the Top Trumps Tardis has them all, from Susan to Leela to Ace, not forgetting of course the tenacious Sarah Jane Smith. Of course, every adventure needs a villain and this pack has creatures from across the universe - from the Sea Devils, the Zygons and the Kandyman to the Master's and his evil schemes and the wanton destruction of the Daleks and Cybermen.

I think its out in the UK on July 14 - I wonder if they'll issue a supercard for it too?, and if so who will that card be of ?

There's a very strong chance that the supercard for the new classics pack is going to be Davros, as he is missing from the main deck. I guess it will probably be placed in one of the future Doctor Who DVD UK releases, but I'll post more as soon as I hear anything Official.

The supercard for Professor River Song is going into the series 4 volume 3 DVD in the UK, out in August, so my thoughts are on the Classics supercard of Davros going in to the series 4 volume 4 UK DVD release, out in September. That seems to make the most sense, although we'll have to wait for an Official announcement for confirmation.

I've never got these before. Do you just need one pack to play? Do they have different cards?

Hi jonwes, I'm a big fan of Top Trumps, below are the rules, its a really addictive game, all you need is the one deck, which contains 30 cards, each with a different biog of the character and a list of stats and attributes, its these stats that are used to try to "trump" your opponents card and win it off them.

Also available are special "supercards", us geeks call them Super Top Trumps, or STT's, and these appear from time to time at various attractions or within DVD's & comics related to the subject, and these cards can be added to the main deck of 30 cards for added gameplay. You don't need these supercards to play the game at all, but if you're a collector like me, its cool to get all of the related cards.

"Top Trumps brings the classic card game "War" into the 21st Century! Any number of people can play. Deal out all 30 cards face down to the players. Each player holds their cards face up but may ONLY look at their top card.

The player to go first chooses the ‘best’ statistic (usually the highest) from their top card, e.g. “Top Speed 252mph”. All other players read out the SAME statistic. Whoever has the best or highest value wins and places all the top cards including their own to the bottom of their pile. They then choose the statistic for the next round.

During a round, if 2 or more cards ‘tie’ or no data is available for that particular statistic then all the cards are placed to one side and the same player chooses again from their next card. The winner of the hand also takes the cards that were placed to one side.

The first player to win all 30 cards is the winner of the game!"

My son got me into the game last night playing Top Trumps BUGS and it is pretty fun - very simple to learn and can keep you very occupied. A great way to play without a "square box" present :-)

Now we may just have to buy the whole range just for variety as the cards contains very interesting facts and colorful pictures.

The Davros supercard, playable with the 45 Years of Time Travel deck has now been spotted on the UK Series 4 Volume 4 DVD, out on September 1.

Update:

For GenCon, Top Trumps printed us some new Master Supercard, which is being given away free to Doctor Who fans who stop by our booth (it's even got our name on the card :-D) This card goes well with the new series Top Trumps decks which we also carry.
