Looks like it sold out before most of us even found out about it.... Crying or Very sad

I think having a forum to announce new products is wonderful, but it would be nice if extremely limited stock items like this weren't announced ahead of time and just put in the New Arrivals, this might make it a little more fair for other people to get them before they sell out.

I used to be able to grab an item even when it was limited, but now it seems there are too many people who have advance warning and rush in before anyone else has a chance.

I always check the WhoNA new items every day but I don't always get to check the announcements as frequently. I'm sure not everyone reads the forums, and it seems sometimes like an unfair advantage when these things are announced, only to head to the link and find out it's too late.

I was just able to grab one of the 4 covers of the Radio Times when the series preview was available a couple of months back, and I literally saw them disappearing before my eyes when I refreshed the page. Had I not rushed to add one to my cart it would have been gone before I even had time to think about it.

There are so many fans and not always enough to go round, so if there is some way to even the field a little it would make things easier.

I realize that some of us don't mind having an advantage (you snooze you lose), but when they are easily able to get items (sometimes in multiples), it makes it harder for other fans to enjoy them, too.

I'm not trying to sound like an angry customer or start a flame war. I just think it would be good if there was some more fair way to put items in very limited supply up so that they aren't snatched up so quickly by those who have more time to monitor the forums than others.

If there isn't a way, if the announcements could at least be removed from the forum when the item sells out, it might be better, this way any of us who lose out won't even know we did.

I don't usually look at the forum when I get on the site I look at the Latest Items page, I would think it would be a good idea not to mention it in the forum, unless you are inquiring if WHONA will carry the item. I understand that some items can only be gotten in small quantities, like RADIO TIMES. But having people look at the Latest Items page first might help them get the item they want. Just putting my 2 cents in. Very Happy

Radio Times is essentially a TV Guide. As such, we are not a "subscriber" to this magazine and we are not reserved the copies we want because we do not get it every week. We get left-overs. With this issue, we got 17 copies. We asked for more copies, but this was all that was available.

We had other retailers ask if we could get 20 copies for them, etc. etc. We did not sell to any other retailers. While Radio Times may be widely available in news stands in the UK, it is simply not a predictable item on our end as to the number of copies we will receive. We would have loved to have had 50 copies on hand for our customers, but 50 copies were not available through the UK magazine distributor we were dealing with.

I definitely understand that RT isn't something that's readily available, which is exactly the point I was making.

I know that certain items are a shot in the dark, at best, so at least if the announcements are removed from the forum once the item has sold out, it would keep those of us who weren't able to benefit from being disappointed by knowing they missed it.

MumboJumbo says that there was still a copy available two days later, but I check the site every day and never saw a hint of it. Perhaps one came and went? Not impossible...

Anyway, judging from Vicci's comment, I'm glad I'm not the only person who seems to feel this way.

With regard to RT, I don't feel quite as bad not getting them since there are places to get scans of the featured DW articles if you know where to look. Not as good as a hard copy, but better than none at all.
