That is surprising. I very rarely meet anyone who knows of him or DA (and certainly not the Swirling Eddies).

Sanctuary is one of the best songs he ever wrote.

Who can forget lines like, "In the land of orange juice...you're better off with the right kind of shirt." I know I cannot.

And now the Swirling Eddies are in their little beddies...
They bit the big bad knockworst and now their little tummies hurt...

Who are...the real girls? Tell me WHO!

Mall, all over the world, mall all over the world...

I thought by now we'd walk the moon...
And drive a car without no tires...
And have a robot run the vacuum...
And date a girl made out of wires...

Darn Floor, Big Bite.

About a year after that album came out a friend heard that there were only 6,000 copies sold. As it was released during the transition between LP and CD, he and I had each bought three copies (1 LP, 1 cassette, 1 CD)... as had a few friends of ours.

He joked that the group of us in the Puget Sound area could probably account for half of those sales.

Hello! Just joined, been a long time Who fan, but just noticed there was a forum here :p

Im an avid prop collector and maker and have been for years, which is where I got into Dr Who toys, so most of my collection consists of lifesize things, like the Sonic Screwdriver, Cyberman Head etc, as well as a few homemade props from the new series and Torchwood.

I am a 23 year old graphic/web designer from Jefferson, Wisconsin. Here are my websites for examples of my prop work and more about me.

Hi guys,

My Name is Dana, I live in Portland, Maine...Where I live with my partner of seven years and our new cat, Chloe.

I'm an amateur writer, artist and action figure customizer....I work at a local hospital overnights...Blech!

I collect Doctor Who figures (of course), X-Men film figures and Micronauts/Micromen.

An old fan who started with Tom Baker's Who (watched him in the seventies on Maine and New Hampshire PBS stations) and now I'm a fan of the new Doctor Who. A big fan of The Avengers (Mr. Steed and Mrs. Peel) and of Space:1999 (I absolutely love the first season). Not really a Trekkie, but I like some of the various ST series. I like Star Gate: SG1, but I'm only able to catch the odd episode every now and again.

I'm a fan of Buffy, Angel and Charmed...Also used to watch (blush) Hercules and Xena...LOL.

I'm a reformed Star Wars fan (generally because I can't stand what George Lucas has done to the original Star Wars films...I saw the first in '78 at a drive in?). I watched the old Creature Features back in the seventies too and I fell in love with Godzilla movies (still love Godzilla today...Old and New).

I also enjoy Marvel comics' Horror and monster comics (mostly from the seventies and eighties), Alpha Flight and DC's Doom Patrol.

Let's see...

Year I became a Who fan...1974 or 75...I'm not sure which...Hey! It was long time ago.

My favorite Classic Doctor would have to be Tom Baker, followed by Jon Pertwee, then Patrick Troughton.

My fave new Doctor is David Tennant (he's so darn cute!).

My Favorite companion would have to be Sarah Jane Smith, followed by Leela, K-9, then Rose (sorry Rose).

I also really dig Torchwood (which I got caught up watching it on Youtube)...Good show.

Oh...Sarah Jane Adventures was fun too...I'll have to put that on my list of shows to catch....Whew! That was long-winded...I apologize.

Best.

Dana

Name: Sarah Malken

Location:Vancouver, B.C., Canada

Interests:Writing, reading, nature, icecream

Influences & Heros:My Dad, Martin Luther King, The Doctor

Authors:Douglas Adams, Charles Dickens, William Kotzwikle, Poppy Z. Brite, J.R.R Tolkien, David Eddings

Films: Interiors, Pi, Girl Interrupted, Lord Of THe Rings(all of them!), and really anything by Woody Allen

T.V.:I don't watch alot of T.V., but I do like the Daily Planet, Doctor Who goes without saying, and the Colbert Report

Year I became a Doctor Who fan: Well, My Dad was always a fan, so I guess I've been watching my whole life. When the new series came out, though, I started collecting books and other things just like he does. I guess it runs in the family!

Favorite Doctor: I love Tennant, but I have a special spot for the 5th Doctor

Favorite Companion: Here's a shocker...Tegan! Of course Rose is pretty cool

Favorite Episode: Bad Wolf(1&2), Caves of Androzani, Earthshock 5th Doctor

Name: Brian Terranova

Location: Pennsylvania

Interests: Acting, Making Films, Writing, Playing the Guitar, Art, oh and Doctor Who. I run a Doctor Who website with Two friends from the UK at www.Kasterborous.com we have reviews, article, nice art work, and news.

Influences & Heroes: I do tend to be influenced by the ideals of my TV hero’s, but to be honest I can’t think of any real like examples.

Authors: Douglas Adams. Why go any further. I read all five of the hitchhikers books and never had to put the books down due to boredom. (Something that most books do to me very easily.)

Films: Snatch, Star War (original Trilogy, the new ones have yet to grow on me, though they have their moments), James Bond fan, and I’ll go with the last poster and say Woody Allen films.

T.V.: Doctor Who, new, old and the TV Movie, Life On Mars (BRILLIANT show), The X-Files, The Saint, Star Gate SG1, Medium, House, and.. you know for a guy who doesn’t have time for TV anymore, I sure have a lot of favorites. I do feel that reality TV is killing TV. I haven’t really watched a show regularly since the X-files ended, and now Doctor Who and Life on Mars, so hopefully Reality TV has had it’s day.

Year I became a Doctor Who fan: The 80’s, not sure exactly when as I was a Kid watching it on PBS, but I did drift for a few years until I rediscovered it again in 1995. since then I have done everything I can to follow the show. I have all the Doctor Who Big Finish plays, and I am collecting all the missing stories on audio, and now I even run a site for the show.

Favorite Doctor: Bit of a cliché but I have to say Tom Baker, but he is followed VERY closely by Patrick Troughton and Paul McGann. Tennant’s great though, maybe he’ll be in the tops by the time his era is over. Mind you the rest of the Doctors are great fun too, yes even Colin.

Favorite Companion: Sarah Jane Smith and Harry Sullivan. Those two coupled with Tom were the Dream team in my book. But there have been so many and I could say some many nice things about all of them.

Favorite Episode: Hard to say, but I have to say all of Tom Bakers first two series.
‘Inferno’,
‘The War Games’,
‘The Chase’,
‘Remembrance of the Daleks’,
‘The Girl in the Fireplace’,
‘The Empty Child’ two parter,
‘Caves of Androani’,
‘The Mark of the Rani’,
And for Paul McGann, I’ll go with an audio and say,
‘Time Works’
and ‘Seasons of Fear’.
There, one (or so) for each of them.

Name
: Steve Roby

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Interests: Science fiction, crime fiction, old movies, atheism, film noir, punk/postpunk/new wave/alternative etc music

Influences & Heroes: Bugs Bunny

Authors, Artists & Poets: Philip K. Dick, H.P. Lovecraft, Cornell Woolrich, Thorne Smith, Kate Bush, Cocteau Twins, Joy Division/New Order, Ultravox/John Foxx, Brian Eno, David Bowie...

Favourite Films: Casablanca, To Have and Have Not, Blade Runner, the Lady Eve, the Thin Man series, Gun Crazy (the original), Double Indemnity, Animal House, Young Frankenstein, Hard Boiled, Pulp Fiction.

Television: Star Trek (well, some Trek series), Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, The Prisoner, Space: 1999, Life on Mars, Coronation Street, Babylon 5, Blake's 7, Coupling, Seinfeld.

Year became a Doctor Who fan: It was a gradual process. First heard of Who in the late 1970s, thanks to newspaper and magazine articles and sightings of Target novelizations, but it wasn't on TV where I lived. Watched it a few times in the 1980s, noticed the New Adventures in bookstores (Kate Orman was a regular on rec.arts.startrek.current around that time) but was overwhelmed by the number of them, watched the TV movie in 1996, and for no single particular reason dived in headfirst in 2001 at last. I'd always intended to get into it and that's when I got around to it.

Favourite Doctor: I don't know that I have one. It really depends on the story. McGann did a great job in a not so great movie, and Eccleston was great, and I started with Pertwee and Tom Baker... nah, can't narrow it down.

Favourite Companion: Bernice Summerfield.

Favourite Episode: Not sure. Most of the ones that still exist on video I've seen only once, and there are a few I still haven't seen at all.

Favourite Doctor: I want to say Chris... but Mr. Tennant has won me over.

Favourite Companion: Rose.

Favourite Episodes:

The Doctor Dances
The End of the World

The Satan Pit - I love the idea of something so ancient and powerful that even the Doctor can't accept its existence.

Fear her - The first 2 minutes after the opening theme. The rest was rubbish. First he lands the Tardis and can't get out, then "Nobody else in this entire galaxy's ever even bothered to make edible ball bearings. Genius." This is my "chips" moment.
