| | Its gotta be hard nowadays for parents to approve of their kids idols today! i mean you have crack head whinehouse, unstable lindsay, britney and nympho paris, more than i cant count how many disgraced athletes, cops, politicians! in a world where beauty, money, clothes, sex seem to be# 1 concerns, how do parents teach kids morals and that its ok to look average and not a supermodel,or do kids have respect, morals today?thoughts? |

| It's extremely difficult. I find myself explaining to my son about current entertainment/sports stars this is "WHAT NOT TO DO" _________________ "I reject your reality and subsitute my own"- MYTHBUSTERS |

| | Got to be hard .but through personal experience i can tell people to always find time to spend with your kids or younger siblings.especially during teenage years all it takes is a moment for vulnerable kids to make wrong choice.many of these young gangbangers get no affection, and parents too wrapped up in their own lives.some folks dont understand that it takes more than handing out expensive sneakers to make a good parent!i think parents nowadays have the toughest job ! |

| | I don't have kids yet, so I may be totally wrong here. I think one of the main reasons I turned out OK is that my Parents provided an environment for me where I could tell them anything and ask them anything. I was one of the only kids I knew who talked to my parents about things every day. They always took the time to listen, to help me, to encourage me, but to also let me know when I was screwing up. I was raised to be confident, yet humble. Other parents would say they had no idea what their kids were up to. My Mother always knew everything I did. If I did something wrong, I told her before anyone else did. I never really looked up to any celebrities back then. Not as a role model, anyway. I mean, I thought Mr. T was cool, but I didn't go around wearing tons of gold and feathers. Parents should be role models, not celebrities. But there are always those cases where a kid is just messed up and can't be helped. I know that sounds harsh, but it's true. |

| | I think thats the problem:parents arent doin any parenting.the parents are too busy with their own lives,i know too many grammas raising their grandkids!they tend to simply spoil them out of guilt due to lack of parenting.media is too busy telling 35 year old moms and dads to live their lives and sell them products to look/feel younger!hey 35 is the new 21!and the kids get stuck in limbo.all the trouble is kids shouting out for attention.i find it sick the abuse kids go through! |
