Everyone has recommended scouring or sanding the suface of the figure because the paint will bond better.

I've got some fine grit sand paper. Should I use this? Or something less abrasive, like a steel wool pad?

I'm afraid of ruining the detail on the figure.

I have a 10th Doctor that I'd like to switch heads with my raggedy 11th Doctor figure.

There was some trick that others were trying to teach me on how I can do this. I tried wiggling it off but it just won't budge.

Tom Ryan figure from the truly excellent Primeval toy line has been made into a U.N.I.T. trooper by the simple addition of a Sculpey beret, some insignia (still need to do some trimming to clean them up a bit), and a miniature ID card that I actually encased in thin plastic from a blister pack.
