PostSubject: My Doctor Who / Torchwood drawings   Tue Jun 10, 2008 3:57 pm

Hello everyone,
My name is Scotty and I am new to the Who North America forum.
I have recently become a fan of "Doctor Who" and "Torchwood".
My favorite characters are the 1Oth Doctor, Rose tyler and Captain Jack Harkness.
One of my hobbies is to do portraits and Illustraitions of celebrities from my favorite TV shows and movies.

Here are a few of my drawings that I have done from "Doctor Who" and "Torchwood"

1. The Doctor & Rose Tyler featuring portraits of David Tennant and Billie Piper using a season 2 promotion photo for reference.

2. 10th Doctor & Companions
This drawing features portraits of the 10th Doctor (David Tennant) and his 3 companions..Rose Tyler (Billie Piper), Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) and Donna Noble (Catharine Tate)

3. Ood Nouveau
This drawing features a portrait of an Ood done in the Mucha Art Nouveau style

4. Captain Jack Harkness
This drawing features a portrait of John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness using a promotional photo from season 2 of "Torchwood"

And here is an In progress look at my next drawing based on Doctor Who.
This drawing is based on the episode "The Sound Of The Drums" and "The Last Of The Time Lords" and will feature portraits of David Tennant as the 10th Doctor, John Simm as the Master, John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones.
This is the initial beginning layout sketch of the drawing...there is still a lot of work to be done and elements to add before the drawing is finished.

I always appreciate constructive comments and feedback so Please let me know what you think Very Happy

Thanks for looking

Scotty--

Oh, my God! I wish I could draw as well as you Scotty! These are amazing! Great likeness! My favourites are the promo picture for Series 2 with 10th Doc and Rose and the Doctor with his companions, you've caught the likeness of the characters really well! Carry on with these, I'd like to see what else you draw!
P.S: Maybe you could do drawings of your favourite Dr Who episodes.

The drawings are Done with prismacolor Color pencils on Strathmore colored paper, with white acrylic paint for highlights.

Thanks for the Feedback, I appreciate the awesome comments ;D

Here is the final design of the drawing.
I have added quite a few more Toclafane spheres and Galifrey symbols. I also included the open Toclafane showing the Human hybrid. I also started blocking in various colors that will eventually be light effects in the background.
I decided to soften up the Art Nouveau design to make it more interesting and to break up the symmetry a little

As always I appreciate constructive comments and feedback, so Please let me know what you think

excellent stuff this...prismacolor...my are you a patient one! The compositions are very well structured and are so much better than what they do nowadays by photoshopping photos and adding generic stock photos and space backdrops. The facial features are rendered with confident skill. Drew Stuzand is an artist that is a good reference point...your work is right at his level. I miss the old target novelizations when they had talented artists actually create the covers...the only art that you see for new who is in the 2006-08 annuals. Keep this up!

Thanks so much for the awesome feedback.
Your comments really mean a lot to me.
I am planning on doing several more drawings based on my favorite Doctor Who episodes.

After I finish "the Sound of the drums/ Last of The time lords" drawing, my next undertaking will be a drawing based on the series 4 finale "the Journey's End".
I also plan to do a drawing based on the episode "The Empty Child/ The Doctor Dances" (gotta love Rose in the Union jack t-shirt Very Happy )
Other projects planned include drawing individual portraits of the classic Doctors

Thanks again for the feedback Very Happy
