I don't understand why all get so excited over these "Companion Chronicles" type of format releases?
These are not much more than someone just reading you a book.

The New one with Jamie is worth it just for his Pat Troughton impersonation alone. But otherwise I agree.

Fraser's impersonation of Troughton is spot on on that CD and it was the only one in the series I've enjoyed (and actually purchased).

have to agree that it was the only one to capture my attention. I bought the 1st 4 and only heard one all the way through the rest I heard parts of. My friend lent me this one and it was a nonstop listen.

I have no problems with their regular line at all, nor do i have issues with the missing stories with narration, but some how the narration of these just isn't captivating.

I only have a few of the BFProd cd's And am kind of confused over the 8th and charlie adventures and now the cheaper shorter 8th doctor and what's her name. What exactly happened here what did i miss and any recommendations on audio maybe your top 5 picks?

You did not miss anything. The threads with Charlie and the 8th Doctor have come to a conclusion.

The new releases of the 8th Doctor and Lucy are now a series of their own. The adventures of the 8th Doctor are now no longer part of the regular monthly release. You have to buy yet another subscription if you want them all in addition to the releases for the 5th, 6th, and 7th Doctors.

When this split happened they have also changed the 8th Doctor releases down to single disc. I wish the regular monthly releases would also come down to a single disc on average, with an occasional double disc special.

It does have Charlie. I do not want to say more and give anything away that may spoil listening for you.

alrighty. I just ordered human resources pt 1. had to add something to my order and wasn't looking to drop $20 on the above mentioned yet. Is there any particular order to keep to or if I go back to the girl.. at a later time it will all jive together alright.

You can listen to the adventures with Lucy and it will not cause any problems of the 8th Doctor's adventures with Charlie.

Any adventure with Charlie and the 8th Dr takes place before any adventures with Lucy and the 8th Dr.

All of the 8th dr plays used to be released in order of how they take place in his timeline, but then the new series came out and he wasn't the current doctor anymore so BF put him into rotation with the rest of the past Drs.

then BBC7 commissioned a series of plays made specifically for them (later to be released by BF, which "Blood of the Daleks" is the 1st of a series of 8 CDs) and they thought it best to go with a new companion (Lucy) as they thought that the continuing story with Charlie might be too much for new fans to have to try to get into. so if they started a new storyline with a new companion then new fans would not be lost.

To be really fan-ish this is the listening order of the Paul mcGann plays (as well as the TVM) I broke them up into season form, however season 6 was released with the rest of the past doctors range one every so many months..) :

8A Enemy Within
8AA Shada

BF Season 2:
8B Storm Warning
8C Sword Of Orion
8D The Stones Of Venice
8E Minuet in Hell

BF Season 3:
8F Invaders from Mars
8G The Chimes of Midnight
8GA Living Legend
8H Seasons of Fear
8J Embrace the Darkness
8K The Time of the Daleks
8L Neverland

BF Season 4:
8M Zegreus (40th Anniversary Special)
8N Scherzo
8P The Creed of Kromon
8Q The Natural History of Fear
8R The Twilight Kingdom

BF Season 5:
8S Faith Stealer
8T The Last
8U Caerdroia
8V The Next Life

Bf Season 6:
8W Terror Firma
8X Scaredy Cat
8Y Other Lives
8YA Time Works
8YB Something Inside
8YC Memory Lane
8YD Absolution
8YE The Girl Who Never Was

BF/BBC7 Season 1:
MG001/2 Blood Of The Daleks
MG003 Horror Of Glam Rock
MG004 Immortal Beloved
MG005 Phobos
MG006 No More Lies
MG007/8 Human Resources

BF/BBC7 Season 2:
MG009 Dead London
MG010 Max Warp
MG011 Brave New Town
MG012 The Skull of Sobek
MG013 Grand Theft Cosmos
MG014 The Zygon Who Fell to Earth
MG015 Kidnapped
MG016 Vengeance

now... back to work before I .. oh no! it's too late...

any time.

ps I noticed i said that BBC7 commissioned the Lucy plays and were later released by BF, I meant they were made by BF as well but not sold until they aired, but then you probably knew that.

I think I realize what bugs me about this format.

The full cast audios are a complete story or movie, almost as if in video format.
If you do not consider the lack of visual as taking anything away, which I usually don't.

To me this "Companion Chronicles" type of format, as I already mentioned, is someone just reading the book for me.

So it sort of seems to me like BF is stepping backwards rather than forwards with this increasing format. The Stargate releases are to be in this format. Plus I would think this format is much cheaper.
