| Okay, I'm putting this here not only because I'm curious about when Who North America will be getting the next issue of the magazine, but also to see if anyone actually reads it... Are there any out there who have a favourite section? Are we all keeping up with the comic? Do we really care what Vanessa Bishop thinks of the merchandise? Let's talk. _________________ I'm the Doctor, and who are you? |

| | I stopped reading it after the Archives were discontinued. Although I do like the Fact of Fiction. But now the price is far too high for me to buy anymore for too little bang. I am getting rid of my old issues now that I got the Archives finally completed |

Are the new issues of DWA and DW:BIT going to be available alongside it, by chance? ....or at least soon thereafter? (trying to save on shipping) |

| Thanks, Jany and Keith, for that info. Hmm... I was hoping for more discussion, though. Like, for instance, were Americans as put out by John Barrowman's interview with DWM as people elsewhere apparently were? Should we care if Barrowman has a fancy for Tennant or Ecclestone or even his director, Ashley Way? I'm not picking sides, mind you, but it does bare commenting on, I think, as virtually everyone else has? _________________ I'm the Doctor, and who are you? |

| To paraphrase Amber Benson, it doesn't matter who you're sleeping with or who you fancy. What matters is how you treat people and every interview I've either seen or read with John shows him to be nothing but a gentleman and a scholar. Let's not focus upon the celebrity gossip angle of things here, shall we? |

| I flip through Doctor Who Magazine when it arrives, see if there's anything interesting, but I find it allows itself to head into "rag" material far too frequently.
I guess the question I ask is, "Does Doctor Who Magazine contribute to or lessen the magic of the television program Doctor Who?" Personally, I find it too frequently detracts from it. Sure, there are insightful articles from time to time, but sometimes I wonder why they publish some of the stuff they do. |

| I actually enjoyed the mag more when the show was off the air. I think nowadays we here in the US have little reason to read some of it because we won't see the new stuff for ages. The comic strip for the Eighth Doctor was incredible, as we can see from the collected books - well ahead of it's time in companion character growth.
That said, I do still get the new mag and always look first to "The Time Team," as they're watching the show from beginning to end in order, and as such make some terrific and unusual observations. Jac keeps an eye on how some characters are portrayed (usually the women), and the others are are wonderfully opinionated.
I sold off the first 150 issues on Ebay last year. Perhaps this year I'll make some space and sell off some more ... |

| | Maybe I bought those from you! haha. I have been looking for a couple of issues to finish the telesnaps and a couple of better copies of the Archives. You cannot imagine how thick a binder is for my archive collection? Let me know when you sell them. I am getting rid of all my old issues also. |

| The question raised of whether DWM strays into "rag" territory far too often these days has surely something to do with the new series having found mainstream popularity across all avenues of demographic viewership. The very young, those who wouldn't touch the original series with a barge pole, and most importantly, WOMEN have all climbed aboard the new series bandwagon and are waving their banners proudly proclaiming their unashamed devotion to the new series. As a result, the official chronicler of all things "Doctor Who" has to change to encompass this sweeping demographic expanse or go out of business. Hence all of the celebrity gossip involving Billie Piper and also the guaranteed hot-button topic of John Barrowman's sexuality in a country where they tried homosexuals in a court of law and imprisoned them not too long ago. |

| | I enjoy it, but I still feel like a relative Who newbie (since 2001, basically), and reading DWM regularly gives me a sense of connection to Who fandom and history. I like the fact that the magazine has close ties with the production folks but also has the freedom to be irreverent or critical on occasion; you don't see much of that in the official Star Trek magazines. |
