| Part of my job is running back and forth to St. Louis from Des Moines (about 16 hours) and audio books are the only thing that keep me from driving into a ditch.
Any suggestions for really good Doctor Who audio to grab before I head out? I've listened to some of the audio books from the new series, but I'm really itching to get into the Big Finish stuff.
Any I should definitely look for or avoid?
Thanks! |

| If you are driving at night, I like Whispers of Terror...it takes on a whole new feel when listening while driving at night....
Safe bets include: Spare Parts, Sword of Orion, The One Doctor, and Holy Terror... all are safe from continuity issues and are genuinely good stories.
I'm sure someone else will likely post some other suggestions... |

| Well, this site does have some good deals on the audio plays. In their Super Sale specials you can get batches of 10 Big Finish Doctor Who audios for $169.95. This is a lot less expensive than they were originally available and is a great way to catch up. You can also go to the Big Finish audio rankings page:

and see how one selection of fans liked them and then pick from there.

| The last audio play that really stayed with me was the Peter Davison story, "The Kingmaker." It was hysterical from beginning to end, has a Tom Baker-ish cameo, and had me laughing out loud.
The other notable for me was "The Spectre of Lanyon Moor." I was listening to this with my eyes closed, in the dark. Just as Evelyn was about to be slaughtered by some THING while out in the woods, someone came into my room and tapped me on the leg ... AND I NEARLY HIT THE CEILING!! Maybe not the greatest play, but one I'll never forget! |

| | "THE MASTER" and "DARVOS" have to be two of the best ones ever. |

| Of those already mentioned, I do not think you will go wrong. I think the most of the McGann run before Zagreus (sp?) and the alt universe thing is excellent.
Some others that I enjoyed and quickly come to mind, and not listed above. Phantasmagoria The Land of the Dead The Mutant Phase The Apocalypse Element Loups-Garoux Colditz Doctor Who and The Pirates (good laughs at times) The Axis of Insanity Medicinal Purposes A Storm of Angels (this is an unbound story) |

| I travel extensively by train and have my ipod loaded up with BBV and Big Finish audios and BBC Radio Collection soundtracks of the missing episodes. The Dalek Empire audios aren't too bad, but I have to say my favorite of all are the Gallifrey series. Leela, Romana and two K9s and I'm in Who Heaven! |
